Between

Between privacy policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

Between is an app for adults. You must be 18 or older.

The short version

What you enter and where it stays

You may enter a chosen name, pronouns, how you describe yourself, your mood, journal notes, support cards, plans and reminders, notes about care services, and wardrobe notes. This information is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage, encrypted. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. The data file is kept out of device backups, and the key that unlocks it never leaves your phone.

This can be very personal, so we treat all of it as sensitive. We cannot see it.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. The app does not contact our servers. The Apple App Store and Google Play give us aggregated statistics (such as downloads and crashes) under their own policies; those statistics do not contain what you enter in the app. If you test a pre-release version through Apple TestFlight, Apple shares with us the email you used to join and any feedback or crash reports you choose to send, under Apple's own policy.

If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message, and we use them only to answer you.

Links to other sites

Some screens link to outside organisations, such as support services. When you open a link, your browser goes to that site and its own privacy policy applies. Between sends them nothing about you.

Permissions

Between does not ask for access to your camera, location, contacts or microphone. If you turn on "Lock Between", the app asks your device to check your Face ID, fingerprint or passcode; the result stays on your device and we never receive it.

Control and deletion

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is normally nothing for us to give you, correct or erase. If you are in the EU or UK you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you can complain to your data protection authority. Write to privacy@betweenapp.app.

Security

Data is encrypted on your device with a key kept in the phone's secure storage. You can turn on an app lock, and the app can hide its content in the app switcher. No system is perfectly secure: if your phone is unlocked and in someone else's hands, they can open the app unless you use the app lock.

If this changes

If a future version adds accounts or community features that send data to our servers, this policy is updated first, the app says clearly what is sent before it is sent, and you choose. We never sell your data.
